The Delhi Police in its latest effort to find out who has been sending frequent bomb threats to schools in the national capitalhuuugebet, detained a Class 12 student who allegedly sent threat emails to 10 schools recently as he did not want to appear for his scheduled exams.

PTI in a report revealed that the student allegedly sent threat mails to 23 schools to avoid being identified over the last few weeks and he thought this would disrupt the exam schedule.

Around 10 educational institutes received bomb threats on Thursday, the latest in a series of such incidents in the city.

PTI said the south district police apprehended the Class 12 student, a minor, Thursday evening in connection with the threats.

"The student got the idea from previous incidents and hatched a plan to change his IP address by using Virtual Private Network (VPN) and send threat e-mails to different schools. Further investigation is underway," PTI quoted a source.

Earlier in the day, officials told the media that the police will address a press conference at its headquarters to share more details but it was later cancelled.

Recent Bomb Threats Received By Delhi Educational Institutions

Two educational institutes in the national capital received bomb threat e-mails on Wednesday, Delhi Fire Services said.

"We received two different bomb threat calls from Lady Shree Ram College (sic) at 11.40 am. Another bomb threat call was received from Tagore International School in the East of Kailash area at 11.17 am," an official told PTI.

He said teams were immediately rushed to the site, but nothing suspicious was found.

A dog squad and bomb disposal squad were part of the teams rushed to the spot immediately.

"We have formed multiple teams to identify the e-mail sender. Further investigation into the matter is underway," a police officer said.

Mallika Preman, the principal of Tagore International School in East of Kailash, said the school has been closed for winter vacation and no students were on the premises.

Last year, Delhi Police detained a 25-year-old unemployed man for making a fake bomb threat.

In another case, a 17-year-old school dropout in Mumbai was arrested for sending a threat email to try to frame a friend.

“Inhumanity at the workplace must be legislated out of existence with stringent punishment and fines for offenders. Human rights do not stop at the workplace! Will raise this matter at the first opportunity during the next session of parliament,” he added.

Observing that the amended rules infringed the right to equality and freedom of speechhuuugebet, the court also said the rules being vague and broad could cause a "chilling effect" not only on an individual but also social media intermediaries.
